GW signs Illinois transfer DJ Williams

Here's some good news: GW signed former Illinois wing DJ Williams, who left that program in May. He was a former 4-star recruit but played sparingly for the Illini, appearing in 4 games. He'll sit for a season then play in the next one and has two years of eligibility.

He's a 6'7" guard from Chicago, so it's nice to see Maurice Joseph getting some talent from there -- former star forward Mike Hall is from the Windy City as well, he played on the great mid-2000s teams and played a bit in the NBA, later starring in Europe.

There's a big GWHoops thread on him, and here's his Illinois profile. He earned a lot of praise coming out of high school (see below) but his minutes dropped each year at Illinois on a stacked team. He did seem improve towards the end of the year. I hope he gets an opportunity to shine here!
