New commitment for 2011: Erik Copes

Looks like GW's already got an oral commitment for the 2011-2012 freshman class: Erik Copes, who happens to be assistant coach Roland Houston's nephew.

Apparently he had schools like Temple, West Virginia and Providence after him. Apparently he's a defensive specialist who averaged 2.5 points, 8 rebounds and 3 blocks as a sophomore.

Here's another article on him, and a recruiting roundup which also lists UConn and Wake Forest as being interested.

Copes goes to Imhotep Charter school in Philly. Their mascot is pictured.
