Richmond hires former GW head coach Maurice Joseph as assistant; formerly at Mason

Former GW head coach Maurice Joseph is making his way through the Atlantic 10, with Richmond announcing that he is now an assistant on Chris Mooney's staff. Joseph was added along with Kevin Hovde who played for Mooney at Richmond previously.

This is Joseph's third A-10 job. He was the head coach at GW from 2017 to 2019 after Mike Lonergan's firing, until being fired himself after compiling a 44-57 record. Joseph, who played for Lonergan at Vermont, started as Director of Basketball Operations and then became an assistant before being promoted to interim and eventually permanent head coach.

Joseph then joined the staff at Fairleigh Dickinson in the Northeast Conference in 2019, and then joined Dave Paulsen's staff at George Mason in 2020.

Good luck to Mojo!
