Christian tests positive for COVID-19, program paused again, Dayton & URI games postponed

Not good news from 22nd Street, as head coach Jamion Christian tweeted today that he has tested positive for COVID-19 and GW announced the program has gone on pause again. The Colonials won't travel to Dayton for tomorrow's game, which has been postponed, as has Saturday's game at URI.

Christian said he is isolating, and GW said they are doing contact tracing and additional testing.

Reporter Matt Norlander noted that GW has been staying in Fairfax, VA and playing and practicing Mason because of the Capitol insurrection, the resulting lockdown and the security for the Biden inauguration. (Who would have thought we'd be writing about that kind of thing?)

There aren't further details yet but it may be possible that Christian's positive test was related to the positive test and pause from two weeks ago. Supposedly that positive test wasn't from a coach or player.

Sad to hear this for Christian and the team. I hope he feels better soon, the lasting effects are minimal, and it doesn't spread further. A truly bizarre season for everyone.

Update: the A-10 has said the GW-URI game on 1/24 is postponed as well.
