GW alum Elana Meyers wins silver in bobsled at the Olympics!

It's a good time to be a GW alum or fan -- the good guys won their 20th game, GW joined with the National Gallery of Art to take over the Corcoran College of Art, and now alumna Elana Meyers has claimed her second Olympic medal, winning the silver in the 2-person boblsed in Sochi.

Pretty awesome. Meyers graduated from GW in 2007 and was a softball player here. When the Olympics cut softball Meyers switched to bobseld, winning a bronze in 2010 at Vancouver. She's a member of the GW Athletics Hall of Fame and holds many records in softball at GW.

She shares her sled with three-time Summer Olympics sprinter Lauren Williams. They were beaten by the Canadians by 0.1 second and third went to another American sled.

Pretty awesome to see this. If Olympic medals were part of the A-10 commissioner's Cup, GW is probably leading.

You can also tweet her at @eamslider24!

USA Today has more on this race, and GW Magazine has more on Meyers.
