This is pretty cool! This year's Colonials Invasion is at Fort Myer, where GW played for about 20 years. Here's more info and how to get tickets! And here's a video about it:
Dear Colonials Fans,
We would like to formally invite you and your family to join us for Colonials Invasion on Friday, October 12 at 8:00PM at Fort Myer's Conmy Hall. Ft Myer served as the home of the Colonials men’s basketball team from 1956 to 1975, prior to the team playing at the Charles E. Smith Center. This year, it will serve as the site of our official celebration of the start of the 2012-13 men's and women's basketball seasons.
The Department of Athletics and Recreation is partnering with GW Veteran Services and the staff at Fort Myer to provide an exciting kick off that will not only give fans a chance to meet our new players and hear Coaches Lonergan and Tsipis talk about the upcoming seasons, but it will also give us an opportunity to share the excitement and anticipation of a new season with the community around us. Together we will celebrate a bit of our history, catch a glimpse of our GW basketball future and show our support of local US Armed Forces and the nearly one thousand student veterans currently enrolled at GW who also call themselves Colonials.
Tickets are free to all fans but must be requested in advance. Please fill out our ticket request form today to guarantee your seats – space is limited. Parking is available on base, however, fans are also welcomed to ride the free bus service with our men’s and women’s basketball teams to and from the event (please register on the ticket request form).
We hope you’ll join us to meet our new team members and coaches, celebrate what it means to be a Colonial, and show your support for our local military families as we Raise High the Red, White, Buff and Blue!
