The season was alredy over before the game started. Fordham beat Bonaventure, meaning GW was eliminated from the A-10 tourney. This game wasn't much better.On senior night minus senior Mo Rice, the team played hard but were killed behind the arc and from the refs - I don't think I've ever seen worse officiating, with phantom calls and insane no calls. The whole arena was getting riled up.
GW stayed with the Minutemen til the end and led briefly, but just when it was looking good for GW, UMass would hit a three - they were 14/30 for the game, and only had 6 non-three pointers. GW also shot poorly from the line, going 11/19. Damian Hollis was nasty, 20 points and 11 boards, while Johnny Lee got 8 assists. Two UMassers scored 20 and another added 17. GW also had 8 blocks, including one amazing stretch where they blocked three in one UMass possession.
After the game, Hobbs said something about looking for more character next season, which was interesting - seemed to refer to Miles Beatty and Maureece Rice, I assume, whose seasons both ended early for violating team rules.
Even though the season is over, I still have plenty to write about - recruits, interviews, recaps of the best and worst parts, and more. Stay tuned.

-Opoku had 4 points in eleven minutes on two big dunks.
-Johnny Lee was more aggressive on offense after his big game against Xavier (14 points) but it didn't work out so well against Charlotte and UMass - he went a combined 1/14 in those games.
-Pops Mensah-Bonsu and Regis Koundjia were both at the game.
-Went to the WOW Wingery before the game, it was dead.
-And we had a terrible experience at Tonic before the game - paninis that took an hour to show up and weren't really paninis at all, and mediocre meatloaf. Stick to the wings, tots, and beer there.
-And a big ass tree fell on 21st St NW.
