R, who is a Colonial Hoops frequenter and GW season ticket holder, runs the Aggie Sports Blog, covering Texas A&M sports, obviously. He saw my previous post with Pops dunking on top of somebody and thinks it might be doctored somehow. Here's his thoughts:
The photo is from Mavs Moneyball (which has a few other Pops shots, like on the left side) and I've got to assume it's not doctored. For one thing, they don't make a big deal about it, just saying Pops's line and that he dunked on his own teammate.
To me, it looks like this is post-dunk, and the ball is either behind Pops and the dunkee, or it bounced somewhere. And the lack of fingers on Mr. Mensah-Bonsu's right hand could either be attributed to the motion blurring it out, or that his hand might be a fist, like when you grab a rim. It looks like a lot of the shot is in motion, like #4 Acie Law IV's face and leg. I'd guess it's an average digital camera, thus the blurriness.
What do you think?
If this is a real picture, I cannot imagine how the play went down. The only thing I can think of is that either the dude who is getting a face full of D or 21(Pops of GW) was very confused about where the screen was going to be set. So Pops went hard, and the other dude stopped short. I will ask Acie how it all went down, he has great baseline seats for the game.
I am not sure the pic is real. Unless they are playing without a ball (not pictured) and Pops has had his arm amputated above the wrist.
