Raptors make offer for Pops

Good! About time.

The article says "As a restricted free agent, Mensah-Bonsu can sign an offer sheet with another team, but Toronto now owns the right of first refusal."

GW hires former Michigan coach as assistant

This might be good news - GW hired Brian Ellerbe, former head coach at Michigan and Loyola, as an assistant. Apparently he's a good Xs and Os guy and a good recruiter, both of which can help GW. Some at GWHoops debate whether Hobbs wanted him and what's wrong with him that he's coming here. Ellerbe has been out of coaching for 8-10 years after Michigan was hit with violations due to payments by a booster. Apparently Ellerbe wasn't involved, as he came to Michigan after the violations happened.

Of course, this is GW, so people always look at the glass as half empty. One poster says it was 100% Hobbs' idea to bring him in, and others speculate that maybe he just didn't want to coach again for awhile. I'm willing to give it the benefit of the doubt - he seems like a good fit.

Michigan fans apparently hate the guy, but they're mostly lunatics who hate everybody who hasn't brought them a national championship.

Follow Pops on Twitter

Looks like Pops Mensah-Bonsu has joined the newest web sensation, Twitter. So far he only has one post, but hey, it's early.

And I saw it on his Facebook page, so it must be legit.

Also, Shaq has one, and it's pretty funny.

Mo Rice to play for Cavs summer league team

Pretty good news for Mr. Rice, who played last season for the D-League Erie Bayhawks, where he averaged 18.7 points per game. The NBA Summer League plays in Vegas from July 10-19.

Here's Bayhawks coach John Treloar on Rice:
"(The Cavaliers) feel like he had a very good first year in the D-League"...

"I'm sure they want to continue to evaluate his growth as he goes along. It's just part of the process of him continuing to work and try to get better to at some point make an NBA roster."
The Erie newspaper has more.

Danilo Pinnock playing in Puerto Rico

Thanks to Spanish 9 at GW and Google, it looks like Danilo Pinnock has moved from Argentina to play for the Capitanes of Arecibo in Puerto Rico, after some health issues with his dad. Here's what Google translator has to say:
Fortunately, it seems, is the father of improved U.S.-Panamanian Danilo Pinnock, since it reappeared in the Superior League of Puerto Rico, Sunday, May 17, hired by Captains Arecibo in part in Santurce Cangrejeros.

It is recalled that he left in a banda Liberty in the midst of the semifinals, as claimed, because his father had heart problems.

Now, a question that appears from this situation and the way he is: Freedom of Sunchales given transfer or unlawful Pinnock's playing?
Another article seems to say he was released.

GW to face Navy in BB&T

Well, not the greatest matchup, especially since Maryland gets Villanova, but hey, it's a game.

Too bad Georgetown, Mason, and AU aren't involved.
You can get college basketball tickets here.
